Over ⅓ of our 3rd-6th grade students are enrolled in the Local Full Time AAP (Advanced Academic Program), a testament to the rigorous academic standards and the dedication of our students and teachers. Innovative Student Programs

Our Get2Green Team, a grant-winning program, is dedicated to environmental stewardship and sustainability. This year, our new garden in front of the school, cultivated by student volunteers, is a beautiful symbol of our commitment to learning through hands-on projects.

We are proud to recognize Mrs. Price and Mrs. Sherfey, both with 25 years of experience at Crossfield. Their passion for teaching and unwavering commitment to our students have set a high bar for excellence in education.

Thriving Community Engagement

The Fun Run is our biggest spirit event of the fall, entirely organized and executed by our PTO, showcasing the strength of our parent community. This year, we had 100% volunteer participation, with no outside vendors, making it a true grassroots effort to support our school.
 

Inclusive and Positive School Culture

Our annual Basketball Game vs. Navy brings the community together for an unforgettable event every spring, celebrating school spirit and unity. With strong Family Engagement Survey results, we create a positive, inclusive atmosphere where all students feel welcomed and valued.

Modern Facilities and Learning Resources

Our new library wing provides a modern space for students to explore their love of reading and research. Additionally, a new rock climbing wall, funded by the PTO, encourages physical activity and teamwork, creating exciting new opportunities for student engagement.

Our dedication to student growth is evident in our impressive 4.67% chronic absenteeism rate, the 8th best in FCPS. We continuously improve our students' academic performance and overall well-being, as reflected in their impressive test scores and personal testimonials.

Crossfield is a Common Sense Media Certified School, recognized for our commitment to creating a positive culture of digital learning. Our staff has worked diligently to integrate technology responsibly, helping students think critically and use technology to learn, create, participate, and share in a safe, responsible way. The Common Sense School badge symbolizes our dedication to empowering students with the skills they need to navigate the digital world responsibly and creatively.  

School Spirit & Exciting Events

The Fun Run Pep Rally—Rally in the Alley! is the perfect way to kick off our Fun Run. This spirited event gets everyone excited for the big day, with high energy, music, and fun—bringing the entire Crossfield community together in celebration of school pride and fitness.

Staff Achievements 

Heather Baucum, our esteemed librarian, has been honored with the Virginia Association of School Librarians (VAASL) Ignite Award, becoming the first-ever elementary-level recipient of this prestigious accolade. This award recognizes Heather’s outstanding service learning research project and her exceptional contributions to our school library program.
